Building upon the Legacy – Our New School for the Future
Ever since King Christian School was founded in 1943, there has been a vision of integrating a Christian worldview into the daily learning of our children. More than 70 years later, we are just as passionate and deliberate in implementing this vision, and in 2005, we embarked on a journey to a new legacy in Christ-centred education with planning for our new school, which opened in September 2015.
Achieving our fundraising goals for the new school
The goal for construction of the new school was set at $4 million with the equivalent of $6.8 million required for everything the new school will need. By the end of 2014, the $4 million had been achieved and the walls were raised on the new building. By spring of 2015, we were celebrating the completion of construction. If you are interested in donating to our school, please contact finance@kingchristian.ca.
History of the new school development
In 2005, our school membership voted 91% in favour of launching a capital campaign to build a new school to accommodate more families and students within our vision. We have experienced delays along the way, including an economic downturn that stalled that original capital campaign, but God’s timing is perfect. By 2007, we were able to purchase the land on Bathurst Street at Graham Sideroad, where our new school has now become a reality.
Our journey continued with the development and presentation of a development feasibility analysis in 2009. This process answered many questions that allowed us to re-launch the capital campaign in 2010, under the name of Building upon the Legacy. We broke ground on Saturday, May 10, 2014 and the new school opened in September 2015.
